ABOUT
SOPHIE YOUNG
Being a Pisces and being fortunate to have spent my summers on Georgian Bay, which is a large bay of Lake Huron, located in Ontario, Canada, I have always had a love of the Great Lakes and fresh water wildlife.
I started drawing and painting at a very young age. I studied art and design at the University of Southern California Roski School of Art & Design in LA.
Shortly after graduating, I landed at VOGUE in NYC where I designed layouts, photo edited and covered events for two years before pursuing my creative curiosity in other directions. After stints in film production, web design (UX and Front-End Dev), and interior design, I returned to my first love of illustrating and writing.
In 2020, I decided to immerse myself in the children book art form and genre. I studied at U of T’s Writing for Children and The Summer Picture Book School, and OCAD’s Intro to Illustrating Picture Books followed by the advanced course this year.
What’s on the Line? is a story inspired by all the fisherman & fisherwomen in my life and I'm so excited to share it with you! Thank you for your interest in my work!
Sincerely,
Sophie
